Charming vintage Mexican silver perfume bottle/pin in March 13th auction

The image of a man wearing a sombrero that shields his face is iconic and so evocative of times past. In this instance, the hombre is a perfume bottle (unscrew the sombrero and you should find the applicator) mounted as a pin – note the amethyst on the sombrero - and will be sold at auction on March 13th as Lot # 304 by Eldred’s Auction Gallery.

The description of the lot is short on details:

MEXICAN STERLING SILVER PERFUME BOTTLE in the form of a sleeping man wearing a sombrero with amethyst. Bottle mounted as a pin. Height 1½.” CONDITION: Undamaged.

The minimum bid is $10, and the estimate is $25.00 to $50.00.  To learn more or bid, visit Eldred’s Auction Gallery or Artfact.

At the moment you probably can’t find many of these pins – at least, not online today.  A similar one is available through Openslate Collectibles, a shop on Ruby Lane.  Take a look.
