One of eBay’s Top-Rated sellers is having a huge sale on vintage silver jewelry starting tonight and going on through Black Friday, the weekend, and Cyber Monday. This dealer carries an always-interesting selection of vintage silver jewelry from across the globe. You’ll find Mexican, Native American, Southwestern, Scandinavian, Japanese, and other interesting pieces. We’ve seen Modernist, Art Deco, Arts and Crafts, Victorian, and other periods represented in this shop, and the seller has a 99% positive feedback rating. (Of course, always look at the feedback and the seller’s policies before buying, and be sure that questions are answered to your satisfaction before you purchase.)

This is a rolling sale of 100 items per day at 40% off. Each sale will last only 24 hours, so you’ll need to check in daily to see what vintage silver jewelry is on sale. With such good prices and 400 pieces to choose from over the four days, this is a great opportunity to add to your vintage silver collection and/or find some excellent jewelry for gift-giving during the holidays.

We don’t know which items will be on sale, but this dealer has pieces by Los Castillo, FarFan, Brenda Schoenfeld, Carmen Beckmann, William Spratling, Victoria, and other Taxco and Mexican designers, so there’s bound to be something Mexican that will catch your eye, but if not, you’ll find lots of other silver temptations.

Sale details: The first sale starts tonight (Thanksgiving) at 10:00 p.m. PST (midnight CST, 1 a.m. EST) and will run for 24 hours. The next sale starts Friday, November 25th at 10:00 p.m. PST and runs for 24 hours. The third sale begins on Saturday, November 26th at 10:00 p.m. PST, and the last sale starts on Sunday the 27th (10:00 p.m. PST/1:00 a.m. EST) and ends on Monday November 28th.

A top-rated eBay seller has listed an auction for an unusual wall plaque by William Spratling. Here is the seller’s description:

William Spratling made 6 or 7 different wall plaques and this is one of them. It features a finely detailed sterling silver head of a Mayan. The head is mounted on a wooden frame by a pin, to give a greater feeling of depth and perspective. The wooden frame retains its original black outer rim and its light blue central area. The original owner (who apparently purchased this directly from Spratling in Taxco) put his name on a piece of paper on the back).

Here is part of the seller’s description:

This necklace is masterfully crafted of heavy gauge sterling silver in a very unique and artistic biomorphic motif. This design is known as “Peas in a Pod Boomerang” and the identical Sigi necklace was featured in the exhibition “Maestros de Plata: William Spratling and the Mexican Silver Renaissance” ~ it is pictured on page 53, Figure 78, in the companion book to the exhibition which was authored by one of the world’s leading authorities on Mexican silver, Penny Morrill. The front of the necklace has a central pendant (3-1/4″ long and width/drop is 2-1/2″) that is a pod shaped boomerang that has four graduated sizes of large silver spheres. There are concave linear links on either side of the central pendant that complete the necklace. The clasp is a tongue and box closure that works perfectly and closes with a crisp ‘click’. The recesses of the design are heavily oxidized which lends depth and dimension to the design. The silver has a warm, age earned patina. This is a highly collectible, original SIGI PINEDA art-to-wear necklace ~ a “must have” for any serious vintage Taxco silver collector!

This is quite an interesting looking vintage MATL piece, offered for sale on eBay by a seller in Mexico City who has sold quite a bit of vintage Mexican silver on eBay. It is silver with turquoise, coral, and amethyst.

The seller describes it as “an altar set with turquoise beads and cabochons, coral beads, two carved pieces of white plaster and eight pyramidal carved amethysts; also this piece was worked with applied wire and embossing.”

It is 8 ¼ inches high, 6 3/8 inches wide, 3 inches deep and marked “MATL.”

Below are a few of the photographs (by eBay seller masv2945) from the listing. If you are interested in purchasing this piece, be sure to do your homework. Check the seller’s feedback, ask any questions before buying, and research MATL (Matilde Eugenia Poulat) carefully if you are not already familiar with her work and marks.

He worked first in Taxco, then Mexico City. Harmon and his wife Louise later moved to the French Riviera.

Harmon’s light-hearted designs included his famous foot tray and the well-known poodle pin. In the eBay listing featured below, Harmon’s whimsical design style takes the form of horses, created in brass.

From the seller’s description:

Each one has the representation of a horse seen in perspective; from the tail to the head. Each cufflink is joined together to a four pointed star with a small chain…Each one measures: 1 X 1 in.One is marked as follows: MEXICO. And the other: MEXICO, HUBERT HARMON, MEXICO. These pieces are in excellent vintage condition, they have only some minor surface scratches and dents common to any worn vintage piece.

When you buy on eBay, always check a seller’s reputation by looking at their feedback, and be sure to read all listings carefully (that includes the seller’s policies). You can always ask a seller questions before bidding or buying, and if you have any questions, you should ask. In the unlikely event of a problem, remember that eBay’s got you covered:

The following is taken from the seller’s description:

This beautiful necklace was all hand crafted. It is composed of twenty nine panels and the central piece. The central piece is made out of several small pieces. The upper part has a round carved green stone set in silver. It has a half silver dome in the front part where a triangular shaped piece is attached. This piece is made with the married metal technique and has several stripes made of brass, copper, silver and iron. From the lower part, nine large drop shaped pieces hung. This piece measures: 3 ¼ X 1 7/8 in. The panels are made of two wire silver circles which have soldered on each side a “U” shaped brass wire and a straight piece of copper wire is soldered in the middle of them. Each one measures: 5/8 X 3/8 in. sizes may slightly vary as all the pieces are handcrafted. All the panels are joined together by silver bands. The clasp is in perfect working condition and is of hook.
