Antonio Pineda silver and jade jewelry from Fowler exhibition
Recently came across The Art of Mexican Modernist Antonio Pineda in Ornament magazine (2008, Vol. 32 Issue 1, p66-67), which was published in connection with the 2008-09 Fowler exhibition “Silver Seduction: The Art of Mexican Modernist Antonio Pineda.”
The article explores Pineda’s art. A fortuitous confluence of relationships would assist Pineda in his rise as one of Taxco’s greatest silversmiths. Over time, Pineda trained in a number of studios and by 1939, at the age of twenty having decided to become a designer and silversmith, opened his own taller. Within the guileless simplicity of their clean and abstract designs, Pineda’s jewelry exudes an authentic personal energy and happy buoyancy, somehow imparting just how much he loved silver itself.
Top-rated eBay seller Lauren Stanley currently has several excellent pieces by Antonio Pineda available. One of these is a sterling silver and jade earring and necklace set that was included in the catalog for Silver Seduction: The Art of Mexican Modernist Antonio Pineda:
Love these modernist silver and wood cuff links too!
