Los Ballesteros of Iguala and Taxco
In 1937 Jalil Majul Ballesteros established Talleres Los Ballesteros in his hometown of Iguala, Mexico. Several years later the family-owned business moved to Taxco, where it grew to become one of the area’s very successful manufacturers. Most of the Los Ballesteros pieces were actually created by independent artisans. The earliest Los Ballesteros hallmarks were fairly simple, but later on a rather ornate “B” became more common. Here is a lovely vintage Los Ballesteros amethyst and sterling silver pendant – it’s about 3 inches in diameter with a large faceted amethyst as the focal point. The seller has an excellent reputation, so it is worth your time to have a look at this auction.
