Mexican modernist Salvador Teran

Salvador Teran (1920 – 1974) is one of the Mexican “maestros” who embraced modernism. He worked with William Spratling and his cousins Los Castillo, but was much more influenced by the modernist movement of the mid-twentieth century. Teran was a highly skilled technician who worked with copper and brass, in addition to silver. He is well known for his mosaic pieces such as boxes, trays, tumblers and wall art and for his “shadowbox” technique that gave his jewelry depth and dimension.
