Mexican silver – carrying on the Los Castillo tradition
2009 September 1
I think it’s really wonderful when the children of great artisans are interested in carrying on the family tradition. Emilia Castillo is the daughter of two of the best, Don Antonio Castillo and Margot de Taxco. Growing up, she was surrounded by the master silversmiths in Los Castillo and became an apprentice. She learned their techniques of working with silver and mixed metals.

Today, Emilia Castillo is a master herself, creating works of art sought by collectors around the world. I love her designs, which incorporate both traditional and modern motifs and ideas. To see them, visit Emilia Castillo Jewelry.
