Trying to learn more about Carmen Beckmann and her jewelry

I haven’t been able to find very much info about Carmen Beckmann online. What I have learned:

  • She lived (lives?) in San Miguel de Allende and began selling her work in the mid-1950s. As of 2006 Beckmann (in her 90s) was working out of her home, still creating jewelry in silver and gold.
  • The marks on vintage Beckmann pieces may show her name as Beckmann or Bekmann.\
  • The book Mexico Especially For Women (1976, Gerie Bauer, Gerie Tully) has this to say about Carmen Beckmann:  “For the most fabulous array of jewelry from a pittance to a fortune. She will also make things to order or repair jewelry for you.”

You can see Beckmann hallmarks and jewelry at 925-1000.com

A belt by Carmen Beckmann that I found on eBay in July sold for $200.00 (more info). I haven’t found too much else on eBay since then, except for two listings from two different sellers (both with good reputations). One listing is for a set consisting of a Carmen Beckmann silver pin and earrings in a spiral design. The other is for a Carmen Beckmann nautilus pin in silver. Both are beauties, have a look.

Click on any of the photographs for more information. Neither of these listings are auctions – both are fixed price.
