Vintage jewelry by Margot de Taxco regularly attracts some of the highest numbers of vintage Mexican silver jewelry “watchers” and buyers on eBay.

Margot de Taxco (Margot van Voorhies Carr) arrived in Mexico in 1937. She married (and later divorced) Don Antonio Castillo of Los Castillo, who encouraged her work. Margot became famous and helped bring attention to Taxco silver.

Of Margot, Carole A. Berk has said, “She observed nature but did not replicate it. Rather, she formalized its form and often lent greatest emphasis to the dynamics of the swirl or scroll.”

In January 2005 Antiques Roadshow included an appraisal of Margot de Taxco jewelry (ca. 1955), which you can view here.   You can see more vintage jewelry by Margot here.
