• She lived (lives?) in San Miguel de Allende and began selling her work in the mid-1950s. As of 2006 Beckmann (in her 90s) was working out of her home, still creating jewelry in silver and gold.
• The marks on vintage Beckmann pieces may show her name as Beckmann or Bekmann.\
• The book Mexico Especially For Women (1976, Gerie Bauer, Gerie Tully) has this to say about Carmen Beckmann:  “For the most fabulous array of jewelry from a pittance to a fortune. She will also make things to order or repair jewelry for you.”

A belt by Carmen Beckmann that I found on eBay in July sold for $200.00 (more info). I haven’t found too much else on eBay since then, except for two listings from two different sellers (both with good reputations). One listing is for a set consisting of a Carmen Beckmann silver pin and earrings in a spiral design. The other is for a Carmen Beckmann nautilus pin in silver. Both are beauties, have a look.

This sterling silver belt by Carmen Beckmann is a real beauty! It is a rare 1960s repousse belt made with hollow pieces (not too heavy!). Marked Bekmann Sterling, Mexico (Beckmann’s name was sometimes spelled Bekmann in her registered hallmarks.) and signed at the clasp. The seller has 100% positive feedback on eBay and an excellent reputation, so if this belt is of interest to you, go have a look (and do it soon – the listing ends on July 26th).
